What does a Christian dating coach do?

A dating coach helps you set goals, spot your patterns and actually follow through. A Christian dating coach does that with your faith in the room. That can mean prayer, Bible-based values, how to date with marriage in mind, and how fast to move physically.

Heart of Dating, for example, says its coaches give “biblical, thoughtful, and practical advice” Heart of Dating · checked Oct 15, 2026. Michelle Joiner’s mentorship is pitched “for the single, Christian woman resolved to marry well” The Christian Dating Coach · checked Oct 15, 2026.

A coach doesn’t find dates for you. That’s a matchmaker’s job, covered below.

How much does a Christian dating coach cost?

From the table: one session runs about $90 to $200. Packages of a few sessions run $350 to $450. A group program is $1,697. A four-month private mentorship is $30,000. That last one is not a typo The Christian Dating Coach · checked Oct 15, 2026.

The dating coach cost guide covers what you get at each price level. Before you pay for anything big, pay for one session first. You’ll learn more in an hour than from a sales page.

What should you ask a faith-based coach?

These questions tell you whether a coach’s faith and yours fit. Ask them on the free call, if there is one.

Ask this Why it matters A good answer sounds like
What does faith look like in your sessions? Some pray with you, some just share values A clear description, not “it’s all in there”
Do you work with my denomination? Some coaches are Catholic, some evangelical, some mixed An honest yes, no, or “here’s how I handle it”
Do you have rules about physical boundaries? Some programs set them for you They help you set yours, and explain their view
What if I’m divorced? Views on remarriage differ a lot Kind, specific, no shame
Are you trained or licensed in anything? Coaching isn’t licensed A straight answer, even if it’s “no”
What’s your refund policy? Several programs say no refunds Written down before you pay
What will we do in the first three sessions? Tells you if there’s a plan A real plan, not “we’ll see where God leads”

Christian matchmaker or coach?

A coach helps you get better at dating. A Christian matchmaker finds people for you to date, from a pool of Christian singles. One is a teacher. The other is a search service.

  • Pick a coach if you get dates but they go nowhere, or you keep picking the same kind of person.
  • Pick a matchmaker if you can’t meet anyone who shares your faith, or you don’t have time to look.

The prices are very different. Most of the Christian matchmaker prices we found are in the tens of thousands. See Christian professional matchmaker for that list, and matchmaker vs dating coach for the full comparison.

What are the red flags?

Faith doesn’t make anyone more or less honest about money. Watch for:

  • No price until the end of a long call. You should know the cost before you share your story.
  • Pressure to decide today. A “today only” price is a sales tactic.
  • No refunds and no plan. No refunds can be fine. No refunds and no clear plan is a lot to ask.
  • Spiritual pressure about the money. Your faith is not a reason to buy a package.
  • Rules that feel like games. Coaching should help you be more honest, not more strategic.
  • Counseling claims without a license. If you need therapy, see dating coach vs therapist.

Does your coach need to be a Christian?

Not always. A good coach who respects your values can help a lot. But if your faith shapes who you’ll date and how, a coach who shares it starts from the same place you do.

Where to start this week

  1. Pick two coaches from the table, or from the dating coach near me guide.
  2. Book the free or cheapest first call with each.
  3. Ask the faith questions above. Notice how you feel after.

Most of these coaches work online. If location doesn’t matter to you, the dating coach online guide explains how video coaching works. If you’d like help choosing, book a free consultation.

Questions people ask

Is a Christian dating coach different from a regular dating coach?

The basics are the same: goals, accountability and feedback. A Christian coach also brings faith into it, like prayer, Bible-based values and how fast to move physically.

Christian matchmaker or coach: which do I need?

A coach improves how you date, and a matchmaker finds the dates for you. If you get plenty of dates but they go nowhere, start with a coach. If you can't meet anyone who shares your faith, look at a matchmaker.

Do I have to be a Christian to work with a Christian dating coach?

It depends on the coach. Heart of Dating says its School of Dating is not for Christians only. The Christian Singles Hub says you won't be the best fit for its matchmaking if you aren't a Christian.

How much does a Christian dating coach cost?

The published prices we found run from $90 for a 30-minute session to $30,000 for a four-month mentorship. Most single sessions we saw were $90 to $200.

Can a Christian dating coach help after divorce?

Many do. The Christian Singles Hub says it works with Christian singles of all backgrounds, including people who are divorced or widowed. Ask about it on your first call.

Is online coaching as good as in person?

It can be. Some Christian coaches we checked work over Zoom or phone, so your city matters less than fit.

Is a Christian dating coach a counselor?

No. None of the coaches we checked claimed a counseling license. If you're dealing with grief, trauma or depression, start with a licensed therapist or your pastor.
