The short answer

Dating coach guides here answer one question each: what a coach or matchmaker does, what it costs, the red flags, and what to check in the contract before you pay.

Key takeaways

  • Start with 4 questions: coach or matchmaker, what it costs, what the red flags are, and what the contract says.
  • Every price links to the page that published it, with 1 checked date beside it.
  • A city page goes live only with 5 verified providers, 3 published prices and 1 local source.
  • The International Coaching Federation runs a credential finder you can use to check a coach's ICF credential.
  • New York gives you 3 business days to cancel a dating service contract (NY GBL § 394-c).
  • Owner stories are labeled as experiences, never as prices. Maya paid $200 for a 90-minute matchmaker intake, and that's one person's story, not an average.

Which dating coach guides should you read?

Every page is listed below. Filter by topic, or scroll the lot.

How do you check a coach’s credentials?

Anyone can call themselves a dating coach. Training and credentials vary a lot. If a coach says they’re ICF-credentialed, you can look them up in the ICF credential finder, and the ICF publishes the code of ethics its members agree to. A credential tells you about training, not whether they’re right for you. That’s what the questions to ask a dating coach are for.

Can you trust online reviews of coaches?

Read them, but read them carefully. Since October 2024 the FTC has had a rule banning fake reviews and testimonials. Fake ones still slip through. Our dating coach reviews guide shows what to look for.

What if you already paid and it isn’t working?

Start with the contract. Then check your state’s rules in dating service contract cancellation rights. If you paid by card, the FTC explains how to dispute a credit card charge.

How are these guides put together?

Each one starts with the short answer, then the details, then the sources. Prices come from providers’ own pages, with the date we looked. Maya’s opinions sit in boxes marked “Maya’s take” so you can tell them apart from facts. The full rules are in the editorial policy.

Where are the local options?

Coaches and matchmakers we’ve checked are on the matchmakers and dating coaches by city page. If you’d rather skip the reading, start with a dating coach near me or matchmaking services near me, or book a free consultation.

Questions people ask

Who writes these guides?

Maya. The About page explains who she is. Every fact links to a source with a date, so you can check it yourself.

How often are prices updated?

Can I print the checklists?

Yes. The checklists have a print button that prints just the list, or you can save it as a PDF.

What if my question isn't answered here?

Use the contact page. If lots of people ask the same thing, it becomes a guide.
