Which Los Angeles dating coaches did I check?

If you’re looking for a Los Angeles dating coach who works with women, the search results make you dig for one. A lot of the coaches near the top of Google write for men. I opened each coach’s own website on October 21, 2026, and kept the ones that say they work with clients in Los Angeles. Nine made the cut. Seven work with women or with singles of any gender. The other two write only for men, and the table marks them so you can skip them.

I list a price only when the coach publishes it.

A few coaches who rank for this search aren’t in my table. One site wouldn’t load for me, another named no city anywhere on it, and a third coach is away from her practice until January. I left them out because I couldn’t check them the way I checked everyone else.

Two of the coaches are also matchmakers. Julie Ferman runs a matchmaking business in LA and also sells a strategy session and a boot camp, and Maclynn International does both from US offices that include Los Angeles. What does a dating coach in Los Angeles cost?

One session and a full program are priced so differently that a single chart would hide the cheap end, so they get two. Only the coaches who work with women are in them.

Amie Leadingham’s private coaching starts at $900 a month for three sessions, and her FAQ lists $1,000 a month for four. She also sells a $697 group program and a $97 self-paced course Amie Leadingham, LA page · checked Oct 21, 2026. That works out to $250 to $300 a session, close to the single-session prices in the first chart.

Evan Marc Katz’s Love U is a six-month online course for women, with weekly video lessons and a monthly live Q&A on Zoom. It costs $997 if you pay at once, or $197 a month for six months, which the page calls a founding-member rate that will rise to $297 Love U · checked Oct 21, 2026. His LA page doesn’t list a price for private coaching.

Lovewell’s $260 is a starting rate, and its pricing page says you may pay more if you ask for a specific coach Lovewell pricing · checked Oct 21, 2026. Julie Ferman’s $295 strategy session is by video. Her personal matchmaking, by invitation, runs $25,000 to $40,000 and up Julie Ferman · checked Oct 21, 2026. How can you tell if an LA dating coach is legit?

In the Google results I pulled for this search, the top spot went to a Reddit thread in r/AskLosAngeles asking whether LA has any legit dating coaches. It’s the right question. Relationship expert Susan Winter told AARP in 2024 that dating coaches aren’t required to have any specific training or qualifications AARP, Oct 24, 2024 · checked Oct 21, 2026. So the checking falls to you.

Start with the price. Winter told AARP that a price you can’t find is a red flag, and so is a coach who asks about your income before quoting one. Six of the seven women-friendly coaches in my table publish at least one price, so a missing number in LA is unusual.

Next, check any credential a coach claims. Coaching credentials come from private groups. The International Coaching Federation has three levels, called ACC, PCC and MCC, but its coach finder says the details listed are not verified by ICF and points you to a separate Verify a Coach tool ICF coach finder · checked Oct 21, 2026. If the person is a therapist, check the license. California’s Board of Behavioral Sciences licenses LMFTs, LCSWs and LPCCs, and its site sends you to the state’s DCA License Search to verify one California BBS · checked Oct 21, 2026. Last, ask for the refund terms in writing. On the pages I opened, only Lovewell spelled out a cancellation rule, and none of the seven women-friendly coaches posted a refund policy. For the full list of warning signs, read are dating coaches scams.

What do LA singles say about dating right now?

In February 2024, LAist’s How To LA team went speed dating LAist, Feb 14, 2024 · checked Oct 21, 2026. At a Love in LA night in a lounge in the downtown arts district, tickets were $35, and daters had about 10 rounds of seven minutes each. That night was for ages 21 to 35. LAist also went to a speed dating night for gay men at The Belmont Bar in West Hollywood, for ages 21 to 40.

LAist asked dating coach Damona Hoffman for advice. She said people leaned hard on dating apps during the pandemic, and she suggested building a first date around an activity instead of a meal, with questions that come from real curiosity.

In April 2026, CBS Los Angeles reported on Drafted, a singles section at Dodger Stadium CBS Los Angeles, Apr 17, 2026 · checked Oct 21, 2026. Groups meet at a brewery before the game for drinks and icebreakers, and ticket sales are split evenly between men and women. Tickets for one April game started at $28. Its founder, Jillian Pfeiffer, called the apps “exhausting” and “transactional.”

Both stories are about people who want to meet in a room again. If you’re over 35, check the age range before you buy a ticket, since LAist’s speed dating night stopped at 35. I once deleted the apps for six months, and my personality came back. A $35 night out is a cheap test before you pay anyone for help.

If dating stirs up anxiety, grief or a pattern you can’t shake, a licensed therapist is a better first stop than a coach. Kirstin Carl describes her Encino practice as attachment-based therapy, says she doesn’t hand out dating tips, scripts or rules, and offers a free 30-minute phone consult. In-person or online: what works in LA?

Most of the LA coaches who work with women meet over video. Amie Leadingham says all her coaching happens on Zoom. Lovewell’s coaches work online, Julie Ferman’s strategy session is by video and her boot camp is virtual, and Love U is an online course. Maclynn’s LA page says its coach meets clients in person or by video, though its coaching page mentions only video calls Maclynn, LA page · checked Oct 21, 2026.

The in-person coaching I found in LA is mostly sold to men. Video works fine for most of what women hire a coach for: the profile, the messages, the talk after a bad date and the pattern you keep repeating. The pages I checked describe sessions in much the same way. Lovewell’s coaching starts with a self-assessment and a review of past relationships. Julie Ferman’s strategy session comes from the matchmaker side. Love U is mostly video lessons, about 25 to 35 minutes a week, plus the live calls Evan Marc Katz · checked Oct 21, 2026. The programs I found run from 30 days (Julie Ferman’s boot camp) to six months (Love U).

A lot of the work happens between sessions. Yes. I’m based in Portland, and I coach online, so it doesn’t matter if you live in West Hollywood or downtown. It works like this:

What does California law say about a coaching contract?

California regulates dating service contracts in Civil Code § 1694 and the sections after it. I read the text on FindLaw, which lists it as current as of Jan 1, 2026. The law covers businesses that offer dating, matrimonial or social referral services in four ways: trading names and contact details, picking people by photo or video, personal introductions at the business, or a social setting it runs as an alternative to bars § 1694 · checked Oct 21, 2026. For those contracts:

• You can cancel in writing until midnight of the third business day after you sign, and the seller has 10 days from your notice to refund you § 1694.1 · checked Oct 21, 2026.
• The contract has to be in writing, you get a copy, and the cancel notice has to sit near your signature § 1694.2 · checked Oct 21, 2026.
• Payments can’t run longer than two years, and the contract can’t last for your lifetime (§ 1694.2).

One-on-one coaching doesn’t appear in that list. So if you buy a coaching package, the coach’s own terms are what you have. Get the refund and cancellation terms in writing before you pay.
