Who are the professional matchmakers in San Francisco?
San Francisco has some of the priciest matchmaking in the country, and most of it is sold on a call, not on a web page. A provider made this list only if its own site, opened on Oct 15, 2026, showed that it serves SF.
| Refund policy | Who it suits | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dating by Blaine | Coach + matchmaker | San Francisco matchmaking; SF coaching with Tara Bratt, mostly over Zoom | Matchmaking from $35,000; most SF searches $40,000 to $60,000 (its website) Oct 15, 2026 | Not stated on the SF matchmaking page | Men only as paying clients. SF women can fill in an intake form to be considered. |
| VIDA Select | Service | Bay Area professionals | Basic matchmaking from $1,695 a month, no required contract (its website) Oct 15, 2026 | Not stated; month-to-month | Busy professionals who want someone else to search, message and schedule |

| Three Day Rule | Matchmaker | San Francisco | Top 12-month program $1 million (reported by ABC7 News, Feb 2, 2025); regular prices not posted source Oct 15, 2026 | Not stated on the SF page | Singles who want a large matchmaking firm and a free first consult |
| Tawkify | Matchmaker | San Francisco and nationwide | Not published | FAQ says it only takes clients it believes it can match, ‘or your money back’; terms not detailed | People who want to try a small set of matches first (its FAQ mentions 3 or 6) |

Two of these are free to join as a possible match: Shannon’s Circle, run by Shannon Lundgren, and the women’s side of Dating by Blaine. Three Day Rule and Tawkify serve SF but post no price on their SF pages. For how prices work across the country, see professional matchmaker cost.
What do Bay Area matchmakers and dating coaches charge?
Monthly and per-session prices sit on one chart. Big one-time searches sit on the other, so the small numbers don’t vanish.
- Dating by Blaine (Tara Bratt), one Zoom session for past students (published on its website) · checked Oct 15, 2026
- VIDA Select, basic matchmaking per month (published on its website) · checked Oct 15, 2026
- Dating by Blaine (Tara Bratt), Jumpstart coaching program (published on its website) · checked Oct 15, 2026
- Dating by Blaine, typical SF search (men only) (published on its website) · checked Oct 15, 2026
Where I found each number:
- Dating by Blaine: matchmaking from $35,000, with most SF searches at $40,000 to $60,000, on its SF matchmaker page · checked Oct 15, 2026. Tara Bratt’s $250 session and $4,985 program are on the SF coaching page · checked Oct 15, 2026. Both are aimed at men.
- VIDA Select: from $1,695 a month, no required contract, on its SF guide · checked Oct 15, 2026. That guide is VIDA’s own ranking, so it puts VIDA first.
I left Three Day Rule’s $1 million program off the charts. ABC7 News · checked Oct 15, 2026 reported it in February 2025 as a 12-month program. It would flatten every other bar, and it’s not what most people buy.

What does local news say about Bay Area matchmaking?
Take this as anecdote. In the same February 2025 story, ABC7 talked to Three Day Rule’s CEO, Adam Cohen-Aslatei. He said the firm has a huge client base in San Francisco and the Bay Area. He described those clients as people who put their careers or other parts of life ahead of love for a while.
If that sounds like you, fair. You were busy building a career, and now you want help without wasting a year. The high-end firms are built for clients with high-end budgets, and they price that way.
Should you hire a San Francisco dating coach instead?
Maybe. A coach costs less and works on you. A matchmaker costs more and works on the search.
| Matchmaker | Dating coach | |
|---|---|---|
| Published SF price | $1,695 a month to $60,000 per search | $250 a session to $4,985 a program |
| What you get | Someone else finds and screens dates | Help with your profile, choices and patterns |
| Who does the work | Mostly them | Mostly you |
| Best for | A big budget and no time | You get dates but they go nowhere |
| The catch | You pay whether or not you click with anyone | Nobody hands you dates |
Most SF coaching is aimed at men. Eddie Hernandez is one Bay Area coach whose page says he works with women too, in person or online, but he posts no price. Ask for one on the first call. What does California law say about a matchmaking contract?
In California, dating service contracts fall under Civil Code § 1694 onward. My copy is FindLaw’s, current as of Jan 1, 2026.
- You can cancel until midnight of the third business day after you sign, in writing. The seller must refund you within 10 days of getting your notice (§ 1694.1 · checked Oct 15, 2026).
- The contract must be in writing, with a bold cancel notice near your signature. Payments can’t run more than 2 years, and the contract can’t last for your lifetime (§ 1694.2 · checked Oct 15, 2026).
- If a contract breaks these rules, you can cancel at any time (§ 1694.2).
- A contract signed because of a seller’s willfully false or misleading claims or ads is void. If a seller breaks this law, a court can award three times your actual damages (§ 1694.4 · checked Oct 15, 2026).
Since the law is written for services that make introductions, get a coach’s refund terms in writing too. My friend’s contract allowed substitutions instead of refunds. Look for that word. The matchmaker contract checklist lists the other clauses, and dating service contract cancellation rights covers other states.
What should you ask on the first call?
Every one of these deserves a straight answer before you pay.

Where to go from here
To compare firms that work nationally, use matchmaking services near me. To look at another city, start at matchmakers and dating coaches by city. If you’re not sure a matchmaker is worth this kind of money, is a matchmaker worth it does the math.
You can also book a free consultation and ask for a second opinion before you sign. Your note goes only to me, Maya.
Questions people ask
Are there good dating coaches in SF?
There are, but few post prices. Eddie Hernandez coaches women and men in person around the Bay Area, and Tara Bratt coaches men over Zoom. Ask for a price and refund terms in writing before you book.
How much does a matchmaker cost in San Francisco?
The SF prices we could verify run from $1,695 a month (VIDA Select) to $40,000 to $60,000 for a typical search (Dating by Blaine, men only). Most firms only quote on a call.
Why do Bay Area matchmakers cost so much?
Many are built for clients who earn a lot and want a long search done for them. ABC7 reported one Three Day Rule program at $1 million for 12 months. That is the far end, not the norm.
Can women join a San Francisco matchmaker for free?
Sometimes. Shannon’s Circle says there is never a fee to be in its Circle, and Dating by Blaine has a women’s intake form for its SF searches. Being in a pool is not the same as being a client.
Can I cancel a matchmaking contract in California?
Yes, until midnight of the third business day after you sign. Send it in writing. The seller has 10 days to refund you.
Is a San Francisco dating coach cheaper than a matchmaker?
Yes. The SF coaching prices on this page are $250 a session and $4,985 for a program. Published SF matchmaking starts at $35,000.
Is month-to-month matchmaking a good idea?
It lowers your risk, because you can stop. VIDA Select says it has no required contract. Ask how many introductions a month you get before you pay.
