What are Denver matchmakers seeing?
These are anecdotes from a Valentine’s Day story on Denver7 · checked Oct 15, 2026, which talked to three local matchmakers.
- Abby Rosenblum, head Denver matchmaker at Simply Matchmaking, said some people think matchmaking clients are weird. Her clients see expert help as the easier route.
- Hope Rike of It’s Just Lunch said people are getting less comfortable meeting in person, because it’s easy to hide behind an app.
- Rike also said older singles, often divorced, tend to bring strict checklists. Her advice: no one is perfect, and no one will check every box.
That last one stings a little, and it’s fair. If your list has twenty items, a matchmaker can’t fix that for you. A coach can help you sort which items matter.
Dating coach Denver or matchmaker: which one do you need?
A matchmaker brings you people. A coach helps you change how you choose them and how you show up. Denver’s prices, side by side:
| Matchmaker | Dating coach | |
|---|---|---|
| Published Denver price | Free profile to $40,000+ | $75 to $170 a session |
| What you get | Someone else finds and screens dates | Help with your profile, choices and patterns |
| Who does the work | Mostly them | Mostly you |
| Best for | A big budget and no time | Divorce, repeat patterns, app burnout |
| The catch | The pool may not fit your age | Nobody hands you dates |
Growing Self’s coaches are mostly licensed therapists, which can help if old patterns keep showing up. Matchmaker vs dating coach compares the two in more depth, and dating coach cost shows fair coaching rates.
What does Colorado law say about a dating service contract?
Colorado’s law for dating service contracts is C.R.S. § 6-1-731. My copy is from colorado.public.law · checked Oct 15, 2026, which copies the 2024 Colorado Revised Statutes and says it’s current through fall 2025. I couldn’t open the legislature’s own copy, so double-check there before you rely on it.
- Your window to cancel ends at midnight on the third business day after you sign, not counting Sundays and holidays. Cancel in writing, or by email for online services.
- The service must refund all your money within 10 days of getting your notice.
- It must be a written contract, and the cancel notice must appear in bold near your signature.
- Payment terms are capped at 2 years, and the contract can’t last for your lifetime. Online plans with terms of a year or less are an exception.
- A contract that doesn’t follow the law is void and unenforceable, and you can cancel at any time. Any waiver of these rights is void too.
- If the service covers a set area and you move more than 50 miles away and can’t transfer, you can stop paying for future services. It can charge up to $100, or $50 if more than half the term has passed.
If something goes wrong anyway, the Colorado Attorney General runs Stop Fraud Colorado · checked Oct 15, 2026, which links to its complaint form. For other states, read dating service contract cancellation rights, and run any contract through the matchmaker contract checklist.
