Professional Matchmaker Boston
Professional matchmaker Boston prices I could verify start at $279 for one arranged date, run $3,000 to $5,900 at two local firms (2023 reports), and go far higher at national firms.
Key takeaways
- The Boston Globe reported that Three Day Rule had a floor of $5,900 and LunchDates typically started at $3,000 (Boston Globe, Jan 2023).
- Boston Single Mingle's full-service matchmaking starts at $279 for the first arranged date, with up to 12 dates over 6 months (its own page, checked Oct 15, 2026).
- LUMA, which has a Boston page, says its full-service matchmaking runs $20,000 to $250,000 or more (LUMA).
- Agape Match, a New York firm that says it has served Boston clients, quoted $20,000 to $100,000 (Freakonomics, Sept 2025).
- In the same Globe story, Three Day Rule reported a 75% jump in business over pre-pandemic levels, and LunchDates more than 25%.
- I could not verify a Massachusetts law written for dating services, so ask the Massachusetts Attorney General about your rights before you sign anything big.
Who are the professional matchmakers in Boston?
Boston has a real local scene: small firms that have been around for years, plus national names with a Boston page. I visited every firm’s own website on October 15, 2026. Each price is the firm’s own or comes from a news story I link. Outside Boston, matchmakers and dating coaches by city covers other places.

Some notes on the Boston firms:
- Boston Single Mingle prices by the date, not by the year. That makes it the easiest place here to test the idea without a big bet.
- LunchDates lists six offices, from Boston out to Nashua, and says it offers dating coaching too.
- Three Day Rule has a free database if you’d rather be the one who gets introduced.
- Susie Q Matchmaking is woman-owned, based in Boston, and holds Boston appointments at the Mandarin Oriental on Boylston Street.
- LUMA and Agape Match are not Boston firms. They search nationally and say they work with Boston clients.

What do Bostonians say about matchmakers?
The Boston Globe talked to local matchmakers and one of their clients in January 2023. It’s anecdote, not data. Boston Globe, Jan 15, 2023 · checked Oct 15, 2026
What they told the Globe:
- Three Day Rule said its Boston business was up 75% over pre-pandemic levels. LunchDates said it was up more than 25%.
- A LunchDates client met her partner through the service after bad experiences on apps. She liked that the matchmaker got to know people before introducing them.
- Susie Q said privacy is the top reason clients come to her, and her clients now run from their mid-20s to their 60s.
- A Boston College professor in the story called it part of a wider demand for personal, curated services.
Consider who’s talking. Matchmakers have every reason to say business is great. The client part is what I’d pay attention to. People don’t hire a matchmaker because they can’t find matches. They hire one because they’re tired of doing the screening alone.
Dating coach Boston: do you need a coach or a matchmaker?
A coach helps you date better. A matchmaker finds people for you. If you’re getting dates but they go nowhere, that’s a coach problem. If you’re too busy to meet anyone at all, that’s a matchmaker problem.
| Matchmaker | Dating coach | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay for | Someone else finds and screens your dates | Help with your profile, your choices and your dates |
| Boston prices I found | $279 a date to $5,900 locally; national firms from $20,000 | No Boston coach I checked posts a price |
| Who finds the people | The firm | You |
| Best for | Little time, clear goals | Dates that keep fizzling out |
| Watch out for | A small pool in your age range | Tactics that game people |
I couldn’t find a Boston dating coach who publishes a price. Two local firms, LunchDates and Boston Single Mingle, say they offer coaching, so ask them for a coaching-only quote. You can also work with a coach online. Read matchmaker vs dating coach, check dating coach cost for typical prices, and use the questions to ask a dating coach on any free call.
What are the contract rules in Massachusetts?
I couldn’t verify a Massachusetts law aimed at dating services, so I won’t describe one. You still have rights. Use them like this:
- Ask for the contract by email and read it at home before you pay.
- Mark the cancel clause, the refund clause and the end date.
- If the firm doesn’t honor its own terms, take it to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office.
A federal rule may also apply. Under the FTC Cooling-Off Rule, you can cancel some sales made at your home or at a seller’s temporary location, such as a hotel room or restaurant, until midnight of the third business day. Services count. The floor is $25 for a sale at home and $130 at a temporary location. Deals made fully online, by phone or at the seller’s own office aren’t covered. Cancel in time and the seller has 10 days to refund you. FTC Cooling-Off Rule · checked Oct 15, 2026
Dating service contract cancellation rights covers the states that do have rules. Print the matchmaker contract checklist before any sales call.
What should you ask on the first call?
Put these to them before the money talk. A price that expires today is a no from me.
